Youth Team Cup Wins

It was generally a very successful weekend for our Galway Clinic sponsored community soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc with a plethora of club sides in action and our younger kids academy showing very strong numbers. Both u17/u18 club sides advanced in Connacht Cup u18 action in Drom and Oranmore on Sunday last. The u17/u18 Premier side played fine football to win 4-3 against Salthill Devon A in Oranmore with the goals coming from a brace from Sean Delany, Alan Greene and an og to secure an excellent win. The u17/u18 Division 1 mainly made up primarily of u17 club players had a fine win also in the Connacht u18 cup in Drom emerging with a well merited 4-3 victory with Dean Mooney netting four with aplomb with Thomas Heraghty and Oliver McCamley doing very well in the heart of the defence.

U14 Teams

The u14 Premier side had a fine 4-0 League win in Drom on Saturday last in the League with Gavin Smyth notching a brace and Tom Delany and Steven Healy also on the scoresheet in a very fine performance. The u14 division 2 side played in a thriller against near neighbours and friends Colga fc and came out on the right side of a 5-4 win in a game where a draw might have been the fairest outcome, where Seamie Fallon, Shane Goodwin, Maxime Lukjonov and a brace from Christine Kowaczyk secured the win in a game well reffed by Tommy Murphy.

Other Age Groups

The u13 Premier side battled well against a strong Mervue side and despite a Ryan O Donnell strike went down 3-1 to the visitors last sunday in Oranmore.

The u16 Division 1 side travelled to Carraroe on Sunday last to take on the local Macdara club and came away with a well merited 4-1 win with Luke Lally, Cillian Cawley, Muyiwa Olaloko and Thomas Carter all hitting the net.

The u16 girls played an enjoyable friendly against Colga fc in Clarenbridge with Ailbhe Doyle netting in an overall fine performance for Tony Jordan,Fiona Slevin and John Brogans charges.

Several of our clubs u12 boys sides were in action on Saturday last. The u12 Division 1 side were held to a 1-1 draw against Salthill Devon in Drom with Jack Cormican netting while the u12 division 2 side played a thriller 2-2 draw against Athenry fc with Niall De Paor and Jamie Lardner netting. The u12 division 4 side played in Na Forbacha on Saturday afternoon last and were on the wrong end of a 3-2 scoreline against the local Bearna Na Forbacha side. Fine performances once more from Darren Cumiskey, Liam O Broin and Rory Kelleher with the goals coming from Cian Quirke and Keven Blankson.
