The weather played havoc with club games on Saturday last but there was a full schedule of club games on Sunday last including the St Columbas Credit Union club organised Invitational tournament.

FAI Cup

At our older age groups there was disappointment for the adult mens side in the FaI Junior Cup in Bohermore on Sunday morning when they went down 2-1 to Galway Hibernians,1-1 at half time through a James Cahalane strike, however a free kick and a penalty saw Hibs advance with their keeper Rykelmy Rodrigues in superb form constantly denying a plethora of Maree/Oranmore chances. In the u18 FAI cup Maree/Oranmore fc had to work very hard and two goals in the second half saw them defeat Galway Hibernians on a 2-0 scoreline with Rory Carbery nothching one late on after Dean Mooney struck a penalty shortly after his introduction. A good team performance as some of the lads will be in action next weekend in The FAI u17 Cup against Co Louth club Ardee Celtic. The u16s will be disappointed after going down 3-1 to visitors Kinvara Utd with Shane Mc Dermott scoring for Maree/Oranmore fc.

Tournament

The St Columbas Credit Union Invitational Tournament continued last Sunday with club sides at u7 and u8 and girls sides at u8 and u10 playing for fun in non competitive action in the sun. After the previous days rain deluge it was great to see the kids enjoying their football. There will be no Invitational Tournament next Sunday November 19th. Thanks to our club volunteers who ran the club cafe during Sundays Invitational Tournament,we look for further parental assistance in the coming weeks. Our club wish to acknowledge the marvellous work over several seasons done by Paul Tucker with the Tournament cafe.

Parental help for Academy

Club Parents are reminded that one parent/guardian must be present at u6 training and at their childs u7 tournament games due to the young age of the kids. The children need and deserve their parents support in these and all other club age groups as our club is run by community volunteers who always need additional help and the kids deserve parental support.
