A quieter weekend on the playing front for Galway Clinic sponsored community based club Maree/Oranmore fc but a very good one.

The u16 division 1 side moved into second place in their League by defeating Colga fc 3-1 last Sunday in Oranmore with a brace from Thomas O Connor and a third from Conor Mc Goldrick in an overall good display.

The u17/u18 Division 1 side maintained their unbeaten run and are now challenging for League honours after defeating a gallant Craughwell Utd side 3-0 on Sunday in Oranmore with captain Jack Grealish and Tommy Hennessy netting and good overall display by the squad who have now two games remaining in their League campaign and are also hoping to progress well in the Cup too.The League is now between Maree/Oranmore fc and Oughterard afc.We wish the lads well.
The u15 division 1 side had a good workout against their colleagues in Cregmore/Claregalway in Oranmore on Sunday and came away with a good win.
Thanks to the large number of club Academy boys and girls who took part in our club contingent in the Oranmore St Patricks Day parade despite the bitterly cold weather which was viewed by thousands in the village last Saturday. Thanks as always to our club volunteers who assisted .
Best wishes to our u12 Premier squad who have self funded a training/games trip this weekend to Brighton and Hove Albion and Crawley Town across the water. It is an excellent opportunity for the players and came about from links developed by club chairman David Watterson and club director of coaching Mike Quirke. Maree/Oranmore fc is very focussed on player development and the opportunity for away trips for other age groups will be offered as our relationships with such clubs develop and grow.We wish our u12 Premier side, their coaches and parents a safe and successful trip.
Maree/Oranmore fc would like to sympathise with the family of Mary Kate Finn of Ballinacourty on her sad passing during the past week with her burial in Renville on Sunday. Her grandson Jack Morrissey is an invaluable member of our youth squad and has played since u6 and his parents Margaret and John have been wonderful supporters of their local community club.May she rest in peace.
