A very busy weekend for our Galway Clinic sponsored community soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc.

The big story of our competitive sides was an excellent 2-1 victory by our adult A side in the Michael Byrne Cup Quarter final on Sunday against rivals Mervue Utd. An excellent performance by Emlyn Longs charges with Conor Murphy and Neil Greaney netting and the lads putting in a super effort to secure a morale boosting win.

The u16 girls had to work hard on Sunday when they sneaked past Moyne Villa In Headford on a 2-1 scoreline with Aisling Quinn and Aisling Horgan netting.

The u13 championship lads had a smashing 3-2 victory away to Oughterard in the splendid setting of New Village with goals from Harry Duffy and a brace from Krystian Kowaczyk.

The u12 premier side had an excellent 3-0 victory at home to Knocknacarra fc with goals from Colm Shivnan, Daniel Keady and Eanna Costello while the u12 division 1 side beat West Coast Utd on a 5-2 scoreline with strikes from Charlie Healy 2,Jack Leahy,Michael Claffey and an og.

The u12 div 2 side went down 4-2 to a good Tuam Celtic side away with goals from Luke Hanniffy and Harry Gilbert.

In midweek games the u18 Premier side drew 4-4 with Athenry fc with Sean Delany, Princewell Diala and Alan Greene among the scorers.

A late late Liam Burke strike secured a narrow 3-2 away win against Tuam Celtic for the u12 premier lads who face an u12 Connacht Final v Westport this Saturday May 5th ko 12.30 in Fahys Field.

The Final/Celebration day of our club organised St Columbas Credit Union Invitational Tournament took place last Sunday in splendid sunshine with an estimated 4 to 5000 in attendance in Oranmore. 1000 medals were distributed to 92 teams from 11 community based soccer clubs. Thanks to all our special guests who attended and especially to our hardy band of volunteers who made it all possible. Our younger kids training will continue up to and including saturday May 12th.Spcial credit goes to Tournament Directors David Watterson and Sean Horsman and the small dedicated group of volunteers for their hard work.

Our April members Development Draw took place last Saturday, 1st prize was Sean and Mary Whelan, 2nd was Dave Geraghty and 3rd prize went to Sean Black.

Our last man standing was won by Cillian Costello from Ballinacourty alongside his parents Enda and Patricia who captured the 1000 euro prize not bad for an u10 club player!.

Finally speedy recoveries to club u14/u15 player Tom Delany and adult A player Darragh Greaney who picked up nasty accidential injuries representing our club over the weekend. We wish them the best.
