A real mixed bag of results for Galway Clinic sponsored community based soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc. The club girls sides had a good weekend with mixed results for the boys sides. Thank you to EA Sports for sponsoring new training tops for the children in our new Football For All Programme headed up by Paul Mc Carthy alongside David Watterson and Mike Quirke amongst others.

Girls Soccer

The u12 girls maintained their position at the top of the u12 Div 1 table after an impressive 6-0 away victory against Bearna Na Forbacha Aontaithe with goals courtesy of four from Aisling Jordan and Lily Sreet and Moya Butler also netting. The u18 girls conceeded a late equaliser to Oughterard afc in New Village on Sunday last in a game which ended 2-2 with the goals arriving from Kayleigh Slevin and Aisling Quinn. The u10 girls meanwhile took part in the ongoing Development League alongside Colemanstown Utd, Mervue and Corrib Rangers. Great credit to our girls coaches with many of our club girls due to attend the opening Galway Womens fc fixture this weekend.

Boys League

The u13 Premier boys were unlucky not to defeat a plucky Bearna Na Forbacha Aontaithe side last Saturday in Oranmore. A late penalty ensured a share of the spoils after Eanna Costello notching a brace, Maree/Oranmore fc now move into second place. The u11 Development League continued on Saturday last when our two club sides hosted visitors Salthill Devon in a fine series of competitive games.

Cup Action

In Cup action no joy for the u17s who were defeated by an excellent St Kevins Boys side in Whitehall,Dublin in the FAI u17 cup Quarter Final, scoreless up to 43 minutes the lads battled very well. The Junior adult A side went down to a gamely Manulla fc side in the Connacht Junior Cup in an overall disappointing performance after some recent excellent performances in the Premier League for Don O Riordans charges.

Parents are reminded that once more our u6 to u10 boys and girls in full kit will be taking part in next Sundays Oranmore St Patricks Day Parade. We will be meeting at the entrance to the Oran Town Centre next Sunday at 3pm with treats for the kids after.
