A mixed bag of results of our local community based soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc who are kindly sponsored by The Galway Clinic. Also this past weekend has seen the commencement of our important Football For All Programme which will continue each Saturday afternoon from 4pm to 5pm on the Oranmore Cages under the coordination of Paul Mc Carthy. The u13 and u17 girls both had fine wins on Sunday last. Our girls programme is assisted by local  business Oran Precast. The u17 girls defeated Oughterard afc away on a 3-0 scoreline with the finishes courtesy of Nicole Duffy, Emma Burke and Shauna Byrne while in the u13 girls championship Maree/Oranmore fc comfortably defeated Bearna Na Forbacha B with braces from Katie Quirke, Ava Mullins and Holly Conboy amongst the scorers in a game which saw the debut of Ellen Shaughnessy who did well, The u15 girls played a friendly on the new Maree 4g against Colga fc with a 1-1 draw being the outcome with 20 girls togging for the club.

The u15 Premier Boys came from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Barna/Furbo Utd in Oranmore on Saturday afternoon and probably should have pipped it. The goals arrived from Daniel Keady and a fine strike from Cian Geraghty. The u13 Div 2 side were pipped 2-1 by Merlin Woods/Medtronic fc with Kian Kirrane netting while the u13 Premier side went down to a strong Mervue side.

Next weekend sees our Adult Premier side play away to Athenry fc on Saturday while our Adult Div 3 side are away to Loughrea B also on Saturday while our u21s play Corrib Rangers in their opening League encounter in Drom on Wednesday night. The newly established Reserve side are preparing for their opening League game and on Sunday last they travelled to Carraroe to play MacDara.

Our Academy training every Saturday afternoon is thriving with large numbers and the first of our Academy blitzes was held for our u9 boys when they hosted Colga fc on the Maree 4g pitch on Sunday afternoon with 30 club players in that age group taking part. Parents are reminded their children must be registered to train or play with the club. This is crucial for all age groups.

The Club were delighted to welcome Galway United manager, John Caulfield, to the new Maree 4G facility in the past week. Our local League of Ireland team have been in a rich vein of form recently and we wish them well for the rest of the season.

Maree/Oranmore fc are appealing for Parents to join our monthly Development Draw to pay for the recently constructed community 4g pitch. To join for the price of a cup of coffee per week text Fergus on 087 2457626.
