Juniors Irish Cup

Maree/Oranmore fc Adult A side advanced comfortably on Sunday last in the FAI Junior Cup when they eased past a brave Dynamo Blues side who play in Division 2 of the Galway and District Football League. The goalscorers against depleted opposition arrived from a brace each from James Cahalane, Rob Mangan, Peter Greaney and strikes from Steve Matthews and Neil Greaney. The lads next outing is in the Premier League is against table toppers Athenry fc on November 4th.

Invitational Tournament

The club organised St Columbas Credit Union Invitational Tournament commenced on Sunday in Oranmore with boys sides at u7 and u8 and girls sides at u8 and u10 in action. Our club fielded three u7 boys sides, two u8 boys sides, two u8 girls sides and an u10 girls sides. The u8 girls this season are well looked after by Suzie Brophy and Lorraine O Connor while the u10 girls are managed by Anthony Conboy, Siobhan Carroll and Paul O Flynn. The u10 girls played Colga fc and Athenry fc with fine performances from Cara o Flynn, Robyn O Grady, Moya Butler, Ava Coen, Sheenagh O Donnell, Holly Conboy, Sophie Carroll and strikers Emma Burke and Sarah Mc Cluskey. The u8 girls side called maree/oranmore Celtic had impressive performances from Gill Murray, Aoibhe Burke, Maya Brophy, Mila Hynes, Rebecca Mc Cluskey, Laura Murphy, Eabha Gallagher, Caoimhe Mannion, Saoirse O Donnell and Grace Healy.
The Tournament continues next week with boys sides at u9 and u10 in action. All Tournament enquiries can be directed to Tournament Directors Sean on 085 1340677 or David on 087 6744158. The emphasis in our club organised Tournament is on fun, development of skills with silent sidelines in operation with no scores or tables published.

Saturdays Games Cancelled

The weather took its toll on Saturday last with a blanket ban issued by the local league due to poor weather conditions which left both our u13 sides and both our u15 sides without a game as Storm Brian took hold. Next weekend sees six of our u12 sides in action in addition to both our u14 sides in action on saturday while on sunday our u12 Premier side, u16 and u17 side are in competitive action.

Member Draw October Winners

The October Members 4g Development Draw for October took place in the Maree Community Centre on Saturday last, First prize went to Ronan Murray of Oranhill,Oranmore, Second Prize went to Brian Geraghty from Renville while Third prize went to John Dooley of Ocean Drive, Oranmore. The winner of a special spot prize for two Premium Level tickets to the Ireland v Denmark World Cup Qualifier was Paul McCarthy of Oranglen, Oranhill .Thanks to Peter Kipper Murphy for all his assistance. Any parents interested in joining our members draw for less than a fiver weekly to construct a new 4g pitch for the community is asked to contact David on 087 6744158.
