A generally quiet weekend for local community based club Maree/Oranmore fc. The poor weather on Saturday last saw all local games cancelled by the Galway FA and our St Columba's Credit Union Invitational Tournament fell foul of the adverse weather last weekend.

Academy Santa Visit

On Saturday last the club hosted their annual Christmas Party for our Academy Age groups(u6 to u10) and to our children in our Football For All Programme. Close to 200 kids received a gift from Santa courtesy of their local soccer club. Special thanks to the following group of volunteers who assisted with the setting up of the grotto and general organisation namely Sean Horsman(Academy coordinator), Tony Jordan, Martin Horgan, Stuart McCamley and Niall Mc Bride. Thanks are also extended to a great club friend Joe Kennelly and to John Wright for his help.

League Action

On Sunday last our u12 Div 1 girls had a fine win away in Oughterard against the home side with goals from Emer Brosnahan(2), Lily Street, Grace McAnespie and Aisling Jordan in a 6-1 win. The u17/u18 Premier side suffered their first League defeat of the season at home to Mervue, to say that lady luck deserted the lads on Sunday is an understatement with the lads failing to strike the net. There were strong performances from Ronan Hanniffy, Danny Travis, Ben Wright and Shane Cox. It was a tough ask on Sunday with four regulars out injured. The u17/u18 Div 2 side had a wasted journey to Na Forbacha on Sunday last against the home side. A ref no show meant the lads were forced to play a competitive challenge. A long way to travel just prior to the Christmas break.

New Year Fixtures

Our Junior Premier side will resume their Premier League campaign on Friday January 4th with an way tie under lights against Salthill Devon while on Sunday Jan 6th our u16 boys play away in the Connacht Cup against Athenry fc. The u12 premier side are also out the previous day in the Connacht U12 Cup against Athenry fc B. On Sunday 6th our u18 girls travel to Annaghdown to face Corrib Celtic and the U17/18 premier side will continue on Sunday Jan 6th with a home tie to Athenry Fc

Merry Christmas!

Special thanks to our volunteer coaches and executive who put in an unstinting effort for the good of our youth in our community. Looking forward to an exciting 2019. We are also grateful to both Maree and Oranmore Community Development Associations who we work closely with and we wish them the seasons best.
