Next Sunday May 21st marks our annual club awards ceremony. The u6 to u10 boys and girls will play mini blitzes at their normal training venues from 4pm to 5pm in Oranmore followed by our club awards in Calasanctius College Oranmore(Canteen area) from 5pm to 6pm. All our younger boys and girls(u6 to u10) will receive a special club awards medal to mark a very successful season. The first club members draw winners will be picked at 6pm at Calasanctius College, please sign up for our members draw at less than a fiver a week to build a new 4G pitch for our kids and community.You can now sign up online on www.mareeoranmorefc.ie The draw is going well so we are asking all club families to support this project so necessary for our community club. Our older club age groups (u11 to adult level) boys and girls will receive their awards also in Calasanctius College from 6pm to 7pm. There will be special guests and all club families are asked to attend.
On the playing pitches our Junior A side are within a whisker of Premier Division football next season.They play fellow promotion contenders West Coast Utd this coming saturday may 20th at 2pm in Oranmore, a victory or a draw will be enough for Emlyn Longs charges,all support would be appreciated.The lads defeated West Utd B 6-1 on Saturday last with goals from Malachy Black(2),Matthew Barrett(2),Regis Ahiable and Lonan O Farrell.We wish Emlyn,his squad and his assistants Peter Campion and Mark Tully the very best.In the u17/u18 Premier League on Sunday Maree/Oranmore Fc notched an excellent 6-0 win in Oranmore against Salthill Devon to secure runner up spot in their final league game of the season,four second half goals from Sean Delany with Matthew Barrett and Eoghan Mc Donagh adding to the tally.Special credit to Noel Greaney and Mark Herrick and our hope is that many of these lads will move into adult football next season.
The u15s lost out on Sunday last in the u15 championship final against a good Corofin Utd on a 3-0 scoreline in Eamonn Deacy Park,The lads under the excellent guidance of Enda Cox and Mike Burke never really got going in the final but credit a physically strong Corofin outfit who merited their victory.The u14 Premier side should finish 3rd in the table following a 5-1 win in Maree last thursday night against Kilshanvey utd with a brace of headers from Cian Horgan and three sublime finishes by Gavin Smith.There were also solid performances from Evan O Rourke,Ciaran Black,James Whelan and Tom Delany.The u14 Premier lads play their cup final wednesday may 24th in Eamonn Deacy Park against Mervue.We wish them luck.The u16 girls under the guidance of the likeable Wally Walsh went down 5-3 to neighbours Colga Fc in the cup with goals from Makayla Quinn(2) and Aisling Quinn.There were good performances from Kayleigh Slevin,Sophie Byrnes and Roise Mc Mahon.
The u12 premier and u13 premier boys have a number of league games left as they battle it out at the top end of their respective tables.Thank you to Supermacs Oranmore under the astute management of the popular Joe Burke for sponsoring tops for the u14 premier squad and to Caroline Cawley of Atlantec festival 17 for sponsoring tops for the u15 championship side.
