Junior Reserves
A busy and generally a successful weekend for local Galway Clinic sponsored community club Maree/Oranmore fc with many of our club sides in competitive action.
The Junior adult Reserve League team continued with their recent fine progress with a comfortable 3-0 win at home to Moyne Villa on Saturday last with the goals coming courtesy of Declan O Dea, Damien Lafferty and Peter Greaney.
U17 Irish Cup
The club advanced comfortably on Sunday last at home in the FAI New Balance u17 Cup defeating a brave Bearna Na Forbacha Aontaithe side with goals courtesy of Alex Fearon, Mark Shivnan, Alan Greene and three from Dean Mooney in an overall good team performance.
Girls Teams
The u16 girls are progressing well under the astute management of Tony Jordan, John Brogan and Fiona Slevin and in Maree on Sunday last they defeated a spirited Moyne Villa side on a 4-2 scoreline with a brace from Aisling Quinn and strikes from Kayleigh Slevin and Nicloe Duffy. The girls next Sunday will play Strokestown Utd in the Irish cup. We wish them well. Not so fortunate were the u12 girls who went down to a strong Bearna Na Forbacha side.
Boys Teams
The u14 Division 2 side had a well earned 2-0 victory against Craughwell Utd on Saturday last with goals from Seamie Fallon and Krystian Kowaczyk, a result which will please managers Barry Goodwin and Tomas Reddington. The u16 boys continued their good run with a hard earned 2-1 victory in Oughterard afc fine facility in New Village on Sunday last with Thomas Murphy and Cathal Fallon netting.
Disappointment for the u14 Premier side who went down 5-2 to a good Cregmore/Claregalway fc side, conceeding uncharacteristic errors while goals from Ben Taylor and Daragh Neary were not enough. At u12 level the Premier side were scoreless with Mervue in Fahys field with a few minutes remaining but late injuries caused the conceeding of late goals. The u12 championship side were pipped 3-2 by St Bernards in a very close game with the goals coming from Liam Lernihan and Cillian Cannon.
Invitational Tournament
This weekend sees the continuation of our club organised St Columbas Credit Union Invitational Tournament with u9 and u10 boys from participating clubs in action in a fun and non competitive environment this sunday november 5th.
