An excellent weekends football for local community based soccer Club Maree/Oranmore fc kindly sponsored by The Galway Clinic- Excellence in Patient Care with the club winning four of the five games played over the past weekend.In Connacht Competitions there were wins for the adult Junior A side and the u18 div 1 side in their respective Connacht cup games.The adult Junior side faced top Sligo/Leitrim Club Cartron Utd from Sligo Town and despite going a goal down after two minutes,recovered well and went on to win impressively 4-1 with goals from Chris O Dowd,Steve Matthews and a brace from Neil Greaney in a good competitive game of football.
The u18 Division 1 side had an excellent 3-1 home win in the u18 Connacht Cup with Tommy Hennessy notching a first half hattrick against visitors from Longford Stonepark FC.A good performance once more from the lads with the rearguard of Conor Carroll,Thomas Heraghty,Oliver Mc Camley,Kevin Horgan doing well alongside impressive displays once more in midfield from Jack Grealish,Oisin Quinlan ,Ben Wright and the inform Hennessy.The lads also top the u17/u18 Div 1 table with three games remaining.
On Saturday last the u14 Premier lads had a fine 4-2 win against Bearna Na Forbacha Aontaithe,coming from 2-0 down early on,the victory was achieved courtesy of goals from Daragh Neary(2),Killian Bolly and Gavin Smith.The u13 Premier side will be desperately disappointed conceeding a late winner to hosts Knocknacarra fc in Millars Lane in a closely contested game.An inability to convert proved costly.
On Sunday the u12 Premier boys side had an excellent 3-2 win to hosts Salthill Devon in a keenly contested tie with the Maree/Oranmore goals coming from Colm Whelan,Conor Daly and Daniel Keady.
Santa visited the younger academy kids on the Oranmore Astro last Saturday afternoon and provided gifts to 250 of our youngest boys and girls with mulled wine and pastries for the adults.The younger kids will return to training after the Christmas break on Saturday January 6th 2018.A special word of thanks to the following volunteers who assisted with the Santa grotto and all the extras namely Paul Tucker,Stuart Mc Camley,David Watterson,Tony Jordan,Martin Horgan,Siobhan Carroll,Dawn Mc Goldrick,Barry Goodwin,Mike Burke

Our December club members development draw for a new 4g pitch for the community will take place this Saturday night Dec 23rd at 9pm in the Porterhouse,Oranmore ,this will be followed by an informal club volunteers night out at 9.30pm in the same venue.
Anyone who has helped in any way with the running of the club is extremely welcome.
Some of our older age groups will train till midweek and the season resumes with a sequence of League and Cup games on the weekend of January 6th/7th 2018.
