The very poor weather and flooded pitch conditions saw Local Galway Clinic sponsored community club Maree/Oranmore fc play just one game this past weekend, an excellent 3-1 victory for a young u12 div 1 side against neighbours Merlin Woods fc with a brace of goals from Barry Keating and a Jack Raftery strike. This puts the lads in second place in the table and indeed hopfully will be challenging for League honours at the end of the season.
The appalling recent torrential rain has galvanised the push to construct a full size 4g pitch through the assistance of our members draw for less than a fiver weekly with monthly cash prizes. Our January club members draw takes place this Saturday night January 27th at 9.45pm in the Maree Community centre and will be recorded live on our club facebook page. Join up now simply by texting Dave on 087 6744158.
Maree/Oranmore fc will be hosting an FAI Kick Start 1 coaching course for club parents with little knowledge of coaching who wish to help their kids and their friends this coming Sunday Jan 28th commencing at 9.30am in the Maree Community Centre. Any club parent who registers on FAI.ie will get their 45 euro refunded by contacting our club secretary on 087 9806489. Food will also be provided compliments of Maree/Oranmore fc. Before you complain, have you volunteered yet?
This coming weekend sees our St Columbas Credit Union Invitational Tournament resume for u9 and u10 boys after the disappointment of last Sundays weather induced cancellation. The two big games of the weekend see our u12s travel to near Letterkenny to face Illistrin Utd in the last 32 of the sfai u12 cup while our club u14s travel to Co Kildare to face Kilcullen Utd also in the last 32 of the Irish Cup. We wish both sides well as we do to a plethora of other club sides who are in competitive action. Visit www.galwayfa.ie for details of our clubs fixtures this weekend.
