Match News
On the playing pitch club results are matching our progress off it. The u12 club side had a marvellous Irish Cup win away in Co Donegal against Illistrin fc on a 2-1 scoreline with goals from Daniel Keady and a winner courtesy of Ballinacourty lad Eanna Costello. The lads are now in the last 16 of the sfai u12 cup nationally and will face an away draw against Douglas Hall from Cork City. This weekend Mike Dalys charges play in the regional semi final away to St Francis from Athlone. We wish the lads well.
To say the u14s were desperately unlucky in the sfai u14 cup in Co Kildare were against Kilcullen afc in the last 32 of the national competition was an understatement as chance after chance was missed on a gluepot surface. This was one that got away, going down 2-1 to the home side with Gavin Smyth netting from a penalty in an opportunity missed but goals win games. The lads can bounce back this saturday when they host Galway Hibernians in the Premier League.
The u13 Premier boys had a good win against a limited Corrib Celtic side in Annaghdown in dreadful conditions with goals courtesy of Eoghan Lohan, Neil Taylor, Ryan O Donnell, Mark Glynn and Aaron Doyle. The u13 championship side recorded their opening win of the season with an emphatic 4-0 in Drom against Salthill Devon with goals from Shane Goodwin,Kehie Emihien and a brace from Krystian Kowacykz.
The u15 Premier lads had a fine 4-1 League win against a battling Knocknacarra fc side with goals coming from Steven Healy,Gavin Smyth,Ronan Killilea and Declan Burke. This now puts the lads in second place in the table on goal difference with a long way to go yet.
The u18s had a good workout in their preparations for the upcoming FAI Cup with a good workout from Ennis Town fc.Maree/Oranmore fc would like to thank Diarmuid O Ceidigh of Macdara for his help and assistance with this fixture. The u11s had some good development League games against our friends in Kinvara Utd. Unfortunately due to poor pitch conditions and torrential ongoing rainfall five club games fell by the wayside enforcing the clubs argument that a 4g pitch is a necessity not a luxury.
Tournament
The St Columbas c.u Invitional Tournament once more attracted the crowds, last Sunday it was the boys at u9 and u10 from a variety of clubs who showed their skills in a fun non competitive environment.
