With the football season complete, local community based soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc can reflect on another excellent season 2017/2018.
With silverware acquired at u12 Premier and u17/U18 Div 1 and finishing an excellent 3rd in all other Premier Boys Divisions and a large growth in girls numbers and progress our club can be very well satisfied.
The Adult mens side consolidated their position with a mid table finish in the Premier League and were most unfortunate not to reach the Michael Byrne Cup Final.
The clubs younger sides competed in the club organised St Columbas c.u Invitational Tournament which was an outstanding success.
Well done to one of our top coaches Mark Herrick whose business Headrite Sports had a superb launch of his specialist heading apparatus last Sunday morning in the Connacht Hotel. A very large attendance was present which included club players and coaches as well as prominent speakers and distinguished guests. We wish Mark and his team the very best with this exciting venture,we are proud to be one of the first clubs to pilot the project.
Congrats to OCDA Chair Tom Broderick who received the well deserved honour of volunteer of the year at the recent Galway County Council Awards.
Best wishes to club players Tom Delany and Steven Healy who are part of the Galway and District League side in the Kennedy Cup in the University of Limerick this week. We wish all involved the best.
Maree/Oranmore fc would like to sympathise with Gerry and Tess Fogarty and family of Maree Cross on the sad passing of Gerrys brother Michael (Crusheen,Co Clare) following a road traffic accident. Gerry was involved with our club for many years and his children also played for the club.
Our club agm will be held shortly and club families will be notified. We need more volunteers to run our club which now has over 600 members.
