A real mixed bag for Galway Clinic sponsored local community based soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc with Cup and League action a plenty.
Connacht Cup
In the u12 Connacht Cup Maree/Oranmore Premier side had to battle hard in Westport to squeeze past the the host Utd club in a 2-1 win with goals courtesy of David Mc Loughlin and a Jack Leahy penalty. The u12 championship side also in the Connacht Cup played away in Ballina Town but came away empty handed against fine opposition.
The u18 Premier boys were desperately unlucky in the Connacht Cup losing out to a strong Colga fc side on penalties after the game and extra time finished 1-1 in a thrilling game. Maree/Oranmore fc dominated the second half and extra time and equalised at the start of the second half with an Eoin Lyons header. Try as they could Maree/Oranmore fc could not hit the net and in the dreaded shoot out went down 4-3 on spot kicks.
U18 Girls
The u18 girls had an excellent 7-2 victory on Sunday against a brave Kinvara Utd side with the goals arriving from Aisling Quinn(4), Kayleigh Slevin, Makayla Mc Grath and Rhiann Heery.
League Action
Also on Sunday last the boys u12 div 2 side staged a spirited comeback against Moyne Villa in an exciting 3-3 draw with the goals arriving from Jonah O Halloran, Keven Blankson and Oisin Stack.
Last Man Standing
All club members are reminded that Last man standing cards have been distributed to all club age groups, an exciting way for a tenner to win the thousand euro with no little skill, please return sold cards to your coach. If players sell four of them they can get free entry to this years exciting competition.
Development Draw Winners

Football For All Week One!
Our Football For All Programme commences this Saturday for local kids with a variety of needs, Paul McCarthy is our coordinator and he can be contacted on footballforallmareeoranmore@gmail.com. Maree/Oranmore as a local community based club caters for all players from elite to the developing player and our new football for all scheme is a very positive move.
