League Action
Ten out of twelve wins this past weekend was a good return for our competitive age groups in a variety of Maree/Oranmore fc age groups. The adult A side worked very hard on Sunday morning last to grind out a hard earned 2-1 win away in Annaghdown to a dogged and determined Corrib Celtic side. Goals from Eric Neary and Neil Greaney have now put Don O Riordan and Hughie O Neill into joint third spot in a very competitive Premier League.
The u16 Premier Boys travelled to Tuam on Sunday afternoon last and had an excellent 4-3 win against Tuam Celtic in the Premier League. This was a good team performance all around with goals from Gavin Smyth(2),Conal Doyle and Ciaran Black doing the damage for the Maree/Oranmore fc lads.
The u14 Premier Lads played very well in the Premier League on Saturday last in Drom and came away with a share of the spoils in a close 1-1 draw with Ben Costelloe notching one. Not to be outdone the u14 div 2 side have also started well with a merited 2-1 win for Tom Reddingtons charges away to Athenry fc with the goals arriving from Aidan Allan and Luke O Connor.
Five of our six u12 boys sides were in League action on a very wet Saturday last with four of the five emerging victorious. The u12 Premier side under the management of David Raftery, Fionn Stapleton and Ger Cleary will be very happy with a fine away win against Tuam Celtic on a 6-2 scoreline with goals courtesy of Sean Stapleton, Alan Burke, Charlie Healy and three from David Mc Laughlin. No joy for our u12 championship side who went down to a strong Bearna Na Forbacha Aontaithe A side in a rain deluge in Oranmore. The young u12 Div 1 side had a comfortable win against a brave Renmore AFC side in Oranmore, among the goalscorers were Noah Carroll(2), Conor Goodwin, Cillian and Dara Costello, Barry Keating, Gus Lohan and John Smith. The u12 Division 3 side made it two wins from two with a well merited home win against Kiltullagh Pioneers. A lot of hard work has been done with this team by coaches Kieran O Connell, Kian Kirrane, Ollie Mc Carthy and Wesley Coyne. The club were delighted to see our u12 division 4 side get on winning ways with a fine 1-0 win against East Utd with Noah Dowling playing very well and netting for Brian O Connor and Joe Dillons charges.
Cup Action
The u18 Girls had a fine 3-2 win against a good Kinvara Utd side in the Galway Cup on Sunday last in Oranmore with Roise Mc Mahon notching a brace and Kayleigh Slevin also scoring in a close game.
The u18 boys had to work really hard in Headford in a good FAI Youth Cup tussle but came away with a fine performance in a 5-2 win against the u18 championship leaders Moyne Villa. There were good performances all over the field with the defensive format of Darragh O Connor, Kevin Horgan, Shane Cox and Caden Okuguni rock steady in particular. The goals came from an excellent brace of strikes from Danny Travis and three from Alan Greene. Moyne Villa gave a very strong gritty performance and an early injury for the influential Thomas Doyle negated their potency somewhat later in the game.
