A very busy weekend for our Galway Clinic sponsored community soccer club Maree/Oranmore fc with a plethora of club teams in action. Our club are running another Last Man Standing for fixtures beginning February 2nd. For a Tenner, Win a Thousand euro. Any players who sell four gets one free.
Juniors
The Junior adult Premier side played extremely well away on Sunday against Merlin Woods/Medtronic fc and came away with a hard earned 2-0 win with Eoghan Mc Donagh and David Devlin netting. The Junior B side who play in the Reserve League had a good midweek win under lights against Headford based Moyne Villa and came away with a 3-1 victory with strikes from Brendan Tully and a brace from Steve Matthews.
The Previously unbeaten u21 side played well but went down to Tuam Celtic 5-4 under lights in Oranmore in a game of two halves with the Maree/Oran lads dominating the second half and having a few goals disallowed in a keen game of football.
Cup Action
The U17/18 A side comfortably defeated Boyle Celtic 4-0 away in the u18 Connacht Shield with Dean Mooney and Alan Greene doing the scoring.
One of our girls sides at u12 level have reached the u12 Div 1 cup final after defeating Colga fc 2-1 in Oranmore on Sunday morning. The goalscorers were Aisling Jordan and Maya Butler. Well done to manager Pat Costello and his charges and we wish him and the girls every success.
League Action
The u17/u18 Div 2 side conceded a last minute goal to draw 2-2 to Ramblers Utd. Jason Meehan and Mark Shivnan did the business.
The U16 Premier side were perhaps a little fortunate to come away with a 3-3 draw against a much improved Knocknacarra fc side in Cappagh Park on their excellent new 4G pitch. Goals were courtesy of Ciaran Black and a brace from Gavin Smyth. For Maree/Oranmore fc there was a sterling performance from James Harrison.
In a thriller the u15 Premier side went down 1-0 in a very competitive game with chances at both ends against Athenry fc. The u15 Div 2 side continued their excellent run with an excellent 5-1 victory at home to Colga fc. The goalscorers were Seamie Fallon, Neil Taylor, Sam Cline, Seaghan Corry and Krystian Kowaczyk.
At u13 Premier level in a robust derby game Maree/Oranmore fc went down 3-2 to neighbours Colga fc with Mikie Grealy and Conor Daly netting. The u13B side who play in Division 1 had a well earned 3-1 victory in Oranmore also against Colga fc with Ciaran Mc Donagh getting two and an Alexander Koman volley for Gary Loughlins charges.
The u11 boys played a series of excellent games in the u11 Development League against visitors Kiltullagh Pioneers in Oranmore on Sunday last.

This coming weekend sees Michael Byrne Cup action for our Adult A side and Connacht Junior Cup action for our adult B side. Our u18 Girls are also in Cup action, Local Cups for our u12 sides and League action for many more club sides.
