A real mixed bag of results for our local Galway Clinic sponsored community club Maree/Oranmore fc.
Cup Action
The u16 boys advanced to the semi final of the Galway Premier Cup by pipping an excellent Athenry fc side on a thrilling 3-2 scoreline in Oranmore on Sunday last. This was an evenly balanced tie with Conall Doyle notching a brace and Ciaran Black getting a fine finish. The captain on Sunday Daniel Cahalane put in an excellent stint with James Whelan and Michael Cotter doing well. Next up for the lads is a Premier League game against Tuam Celtic.
The u18 Division 2 side advanced in the Cup after an excellent 6-1 win away to Ramblers fc with goals from Diarmuid Hanniffy(2), Mark Mullins(2), Matthew Forde and Jason Meehan.
The u13 boys were leading 2-1 to Knocknacarra fc at half time in the local cup but the Knocknacarra lads dominated the latter period to power on to victory.
League Action
The U18 Premier side battling it out near the top defeated Tuam Celtic on Sunday with Princewell Diala netting four with Dara O'Connor and Kody McCann netting a goal each. There were strong performances by Shane Cox, Conor Carroll, Kevin Horgan, Alex Fearon and especially O'Connor who gave an excellent display.
The u12 girls unfortunately lost out 3-1 to Craughwell Utd in League action with Emer Brosnahan netting.
Invitational Tournament
Great excitement in the club organised St Columba's c.u Invitational Tournament last Sunday played in lovely sunshine in front of an appreciative large crowd. The finals/celebration day will be held on Sunday April 28th.
Friendly Match
The u16 girls on Saturday morning last played Lakeland fc from Dublin with our girls coming away with a 3-0 victory with goals courtesy of Leanne Lynskey, Roise McMahon and Ailbhe Doyle. (Main Picture)
