Santa Visit and Members Draw
The monthly Maree/Oranmore Members Development Draw took place last Saturday afternoon and coincided with Santas visit to our 200 plus strong Academy section (u6 to u10 Boys and Girls). The top prize of 200 euro this month went to Joe Dillon, Second prize went to Patrick and Mary Lynn with third prize going to Barry Goodwin.
Maree/Oranmore fc are hopefull of commencing the development of a new 4g pitch in Maree for the use of the twin communities of Maree and Oranmore early in the new year. You can help if not done yet by paying less than a fiver weekly and also be eligible for monthly cash draws. Contact Fergus on 0872457626 for further details on how to join.
Maree/Oranmore fc Academy teams are featured in our club calenders for 2020. Special credit to Frank Mannion and Tom Reddington for their work in putting it all together. Thanks to sponsors of the calender Lapteck, Soltech and Kiltormer nursing Home. There are separate calenders for u8 and u10 girls, Boys u6, u7 and u8. Boys u9 and u10 and there is a separate calender which features our boys u11 players. Last Saturday also saw the visit of Santa Claus to almost 200 Academy players where he distributed a small gift to each club player in our youngest section of our community based club. Thanks to Ross Melville, Mike Quirke, Martin Horgan, Mary Ann Rattigan, Pete Campion, Joe Kennelly and Fergus Kelliher for making it all such a success.
Our younger Academy sides resume training on Saturday Jan 11th with our older sides returning to training shortly after the Christmas. Saturday last also saw the distribution of the remaining preordered Errea club merchandise. Thanks to Emma and Niall McBride who helped boost sales significantly and also to help promote our club in our local community.
Boys League
On the playing pitch the u18 Premier side were pipped in Fahys Field on a 3-2 scoreline against Mervue midweek in a top of the table clash in a very close keenly contested game. The Maree/Oranmore goals came courtesy of Gavin Smyth and Conal Doyle strikes. Both clubs are at present joint top of the table.
The u11 boys had a fine outing against Colga fc in a series of mini games on Saturday morning last in Oranmore.
The u14 div 1 boys side squandered a 3-0 lead against Cregmore/Claregalway A side and went down 6-3 in Oranmore despite a hattrick from David Wosniewski in a game where it certainly rained goals.
